Spirit Guides and Angels – differences and help they can each give. |
Lots of people ask about the difference between Spirit Guides and Angels and which they should turn to for what. This article seeks to answer these questions for you from the perspective of my understanding and experience. If it resonates with you use it, if not let it go.
Spirit Guides are people. People who have incarnated many times and have grown in love, wisdom and understanding. They exist in the 4th dimension (the dimension closest to our physical 3rd dimensional world. Part of their evolutionary journey as a soul is to act as your Guide (Doorkeeper) for this lifetime. They know what you intended to do in this lifetime. They act as a go between. At different times in your life they will invite other guides to assist in specific areas. They cannot be anyone who was alive in your lifetime because they are appointed to you at the time you are choosing your next incarnation, i.e. prior to your birth.
Your guide is always with you. Most children are aware of their guides and they talk to them and play as imaginary friends. As they grow older and more aware of the physical 3rd dimensional world in which they live within their body they tend to let go of what is perceived to be the imaginary 4th dimensional world where spirit live. The 4th dimension is all around us it is just that it vibrates at a higher level and we can only perceive it within our senses and our awareness. I do not intend to go into long explanations of quantum physics in this article but there is more and more scientific evidence of how we can physically change things via focusing our awareness and thoughts at a quantum level.
Guides help you at a practical level in this lifetime. They guide you; they pass you information in your dreams, into your thoughts, into your gut reactions. They reach your consciousness when you are in a very relaxed state and they drop thoughts, visions, words, and memories into your consciousness in whichever way they can. Thus those who trust and use their intuition are working with their guides. They trust their inner guidance. With time and practice this develops into the psychic and mediumistic skills of clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, claircognience. All mediums work closely with their guides and it is their guides that bring the messages from deceased loved ones. Everyone can do it; some have more natural talent than others. Just like becoming an international athlete it takes practice, practice, and more practice.
Your doorkeeper will invite other guides to come and assist you at certain times in your life as you progress along your prechosen pathway. Nothing is set in stone though. You have free will and can always just not take any notice of your intuition and inner guidance and go a different way. An example of other guides coming into your life would be when you start to take an interest in different things. For instance you may become interested in crystals and a guide that would be with you at that time would be one who knew a lot about crystals. Then you become interested in healing and you might work for a time with a different guide who was a healer during his or her own past lives.
Angels – on the other hand operate between the 5th & 7th dimensions, are not human and have never been human. They are energy, often representing different archetypal energies. They are said to be the most developed of the Devic kingdom of elemental energies such as fairies, elves etc. They have been around since time began and appear in every religion both ancient and modern all around the globe as a winged messenger acting as a link between the universal creator and us. For instance Archangel Gabriel appears in both the bible as bringing the message to Joseph and Mary of Jesus birth, and is reputedly the angel who dictated the Koran to Mohammed. Winged messengers were part of the belief structure in Mayan, Aztec, Egyptian, Greek and Roman, religions and still are in the Dogon of Africa and the Aborigines in Australia. So there is a lot of credibility in their existence even if we cannot see them.
As I said they are energy, pure and simple. I wont go into the various levels of angels in this article but suffice to say there are millions of them and we each and every one have our own guardian angel. As part of their evolutionary journey they are appointed to watch over us from our soul’s inception. From when our soul first incarnated we have the same guardian angel watching over us. They hold our soul’s blueprint of what we came here to bring into the universe. They watch over each lifetime and gently nurture us in the direction our soul has chosen to take. Again we have free will and therefore can chose not to follow this path at any particular time.
Under the law of the universe they cannot interfere with Karma and they cannot do anything that will harm another. For instance I may have had a lifetime where I developed powers of alchemy for transforming energy for the good of all. If I had chosen to misuse those powers then I would have incurred Karma and would have to put whatever I had done that had hurt others right through many lifetimes. In this lifetime I may again be given the opportunity to work with these powerful energies and again I have choice as to whether I use them for the greater good or my own personal gain. I have the choice. The angels will guide me, as my spirit guide will guide me but I have the choice.
So angels help with the emotional growth of your soul’s pathway over all your lifetimes and spirit guides help with your growth in this lifetime.
Also under the law of the universe angels cannot help unless you ask but Spirit Guides can try and get messages across in any way they can but again cannot interfere with your free will or Karma. Neither can they do anything that might harm or change someone else’s’ path.
What type of help can they each give?
This is often where confusion really sets in because they can both help with everything.
Angels will find you practical things like parking spaces when you need them. Seats on the train when your back aches. New homes, cars, whatever you desire and feel you are worthy of. All you have to do is ask from the heart and let go of expectation and how the results might come. You do not even have to believe in it, you can prove it to yourself by asking and noticing the results. Over a period of time you start to notice that you get the parking space you wanted often exactly where you visualised it. Be aware that you are asking for your highest good and to harm none. So how I would do it is “please angels can I have a legal parking space outside the art shop if it be for my highest good and no one needs it more than me”. Then I usually get it but if I don’t, then I know someone else needs it more or I do not need to be there. Often if there is not a parking space it is because I have asked for something else like a new house and I end up parking outside a different estate agent with my new house in the window. There is no such thing as co-incidence when working with angels.
Angels will give you signs as well through music, white feathers, people coming into your life when you need them for specific purposes, whatever you need comes to you when you ask the angels and let go of expectation of how it will happen.
Because they have been accepted in so many different cultures and so many different parts of the world and so many different times they have had many different names, therefore, I do not feel it is necessary to know all their names. As long as you know the quality you want to bring into your life. So you can ask for different types of energy i.e. laughter, joy, courage, forgiveness, self-acceptance, security, humour, compassion, love, clarity, whatever you wish to come into your life and then start to notice how you begin to see things differently.
Angels hear your heart, they hear your feelings. You have to be feeling what you want to ask for. They are not telepathic. They do not tune into what is in your head. But they know the perfect ness of your soul and love you unconditionally. Everyone can connect to the angels, some more easily than others.
Spirit guides however, being of the denser 4th dimensional energy, still have their own personalities they can express. They may have had many lifetimes and be evolved beings but they work from their own soul’s experience and knowledge. Hence they do not necessarily know everything and often need to get outside help from other guides. They also love you unconditionally but you will feel and experience different character traits. These traits have been chosen to compliment the character traits that you wish to express in this lifetime. It could be honesty, love, and acceptance, whatever. Neither spirit guides nor angels judge us. We do that for ourselves.
Spirit guides tend to work more through the mind. As a person if we want to communicate with our guides we can consciously expand our aura and invite our guides into our aura so as to receive messages. This is done by being very relaxed and setting our intention to ask our guides to come to us. Or if we can go on a guided visualisation journey to meet them. When in this altered state of consciousness (often known as meditative, or light hypnotic trance) our guides can come and drop information into our minds using all our senses, personal memories etc. Whatever you end up thinking about or noticing in your body when you have invited your guide into your energy is important. They often work symbolically because symbols convey more in a simple format. Spirit never wastes energy.
In summary – although spirit guides and angels are very different and work in different ways and bring different types of energy into your life. You can in fact ask both for practical help in life such as information re this lifetime both from a soul progress perspective and from a practical perspective re parking spaces, new homes, new jobs etc. But only the angels can help bring you archetypal qualities such as courage, acceptance, joy, laughter etc. Angel energy is gentle and loving. Spirit Guide energy, although loving, is often practical.
