Joylina’s Thoughts With all the changing energies, planetary influences, cardinal crosses, introspection and spiritual searching that we are being asked to do, our moods can fluctuate from day to day. I have noticed my moods seem to be following exactly what the planets are doing in the sky. I am either feeling expansive and excited by my life or wondering if there is more to life than working. I am constantly re-evaluating everything which can be frustrating. Just as things begin to pick up, Saturn turns direct in Aries, then suddenly I start to question myself again and I find Jupiter has turned retrograde (see full details under The Planets below). I know I am constantly tired and exhausted as all the new energies and influences balance themselves out within my body and my energy field. I have had enough for a while and intend to enjoy the summer. Every morning, for the last week, I have woken up to this quote: “If beauty be the food of love, play on” William Shakespeare Remember, Angels fly because they take themselves lightly, so let us focus on beauty this month and begin to play and create and share the love in our hearts. Just to let you know I will be away in Bhutan from 2nd September to 20th September and whilst I am away my voicemail will be turned OFF. Please send me an email and I will reply as soon as possible. I will be connecting to my email where possible but the telephone/computer infrastructure is a bit hit and miss.
Also watch out for forthcoming updates and changes to the website. Feel free to email me your comments. Message From Jophiel Let go of your worries and your fears for your summer months. Planetary Influences The planets will be thumping hard on the ceiling of the sky, and the clanging and banging they will be doing will be akin to a bull in a china shop. All this commotion will be instantly noticed here on earth, especially during the first week of August. What is happening on August 6 and 7 is something we have never seen in our lifetimes and will probably not see happen again. Planets will square off in four packs, each in a different corner of the sky. On one corner you have Jupiter and Uranus in Aries, opposed to Saturn, Venus, and Mars clear across the sky in Libra in the opposite corner. On the third corner we have powerful Pluto in Capricorn directly opposed to the moon, transiting in Cancer and filling the fourth corner. Each planet will be in very early degrees of a cardinal sign (Aries, Libra, Cancer, or Capricorn), so when they move into position on August 6 and 7, they will calibrate into a perfect square pattern with a giant X in the middle. This is a cardinal cross. Usually we need four squares and two oppositions to create any kind of cross pattern, but this time we will have ten squares (planets at 90 degrees) and seven oppositions (planets at 180 degrees). This is amazing. The only planets NOT involved, as part of this cross pattern will be the Sun, Mercury, and Neptune. (Susan Millar www.astrologyzone.com) Jupiter went retrograde in Aries on July 22-23, and reverses into Pisces on September 9, where it turns direct again on November 18. Jupiter is the planet of expansion, success, confidence and good luck. When it goes retrograde, however, all that bountiful energy is turned inwards. During a Jupiter retrograde period, all outer materialistic ambitions become less important and indeed slightly harder to fulfill. You may find difficulties and obstacles where none existed before. With Jupiter in fiery Aries from early June, we may have all felt a jolt of energy and forward progress, however as Jupiter retrogrades what is truly important is to connect with your spiritual center. You will find that you are putting a higher value on emotions and less emphasis on money and material possessions. You'll want to connect at a deeper level with friends and partners and worry less about keeping up appearances.
More than anything Jupiter wants you to find a real sense of meaning and purpose in your life. This is the time to go inward - review - and reflect. New goals and aims should come out of this time of Jupiter retrograde period. Having a vision of your ideal is very important to Jupiter. Life isn't all about collecting wood and drawing water -- the treadmill of daily life. There is another dimension into which you can now move into. It may not be the time to act on your dreams, more a time to gestate -- prepare, reflect, plan, and ask your muse for inspiration. Then by November you'll be ready to move ahead. On July 21, Saturn the planet of discipline and karma, left Virgo and re-entered Libra for an extended stay till October 5, 2010. During Saturn's sojourn in Virgo, the focus has been on rules, discipline, duty and responsibility and how we maintain and organize our lives. As Saturn moves into Libra, the lessons we have to learn are about relationships and agreements.
Libra is the sign of co-operation and committed partnerships as well as business agreements and the law. Libra is known to be logical, objective, seeks balance and fairness, as well as known for being charming, friendly, social and peaceful. Saturn has its best placement in Libra and is said to be exalted in this position. As Saturn transits through the cosmos and through the different houses in our natal charts, it is supposed to teach us life lessons that once learned, stay with us for the rest of our lives. Saturn has a bad reputation in astrology as the bringer of bad luck. But it really has a highly positive side since Saturn consolidates, brings down to earth and makes real what may have been nebulous before.
So will there be a reality check on all agreements whether emotional or commercial for us? Will they be fair? Will they bring the desired results? Saturn is impatient with anything evasive, uncertain or dishonest. This won't be the time for quick fixes in relationships or deals. The adjustments needed for the next couple of years will have to be transparent, above board and clearly spelled out. The focus will be on our relationships - both personal and otherwise. There will be a greater emphasis on co-operation in which both sides are fully engaged. Out in society as well there'll be more awareness of the need to all pull together. The downside of Saturn in Libra can be too much work and too many commitments.
On July 29, Mars moves into Libra for a brief but potent stay until September 14. It is being said in the astrology world that this is going to be period of revolutionary changes. These changes may be personal, relationship-oriented, or community-based, it may affect nations and even have global significance, but whatever is about to occur will probably be rather memorable or one for the history books.
Mars moves into Libra and promptly runs into a highly strung, rather disruptive, not to say explosive opposition to Uranus on July 30 and a teeth-gritting, impatient, accident prone conjunction to Saturn on July 31. Tempers will flare, plans will get chopped and change with everyone going in opposite directions.
The mood out in the world will be insecure. Playing it cool will be crucial. However tempting it might be, this is not the time to over-react to provocation. If you are confident within yourself, whatever is happening around you will just bounce off. Focus your energy on what can be done right away. Also, be aware that Mars in Libra gets especially annoyed about unfairness and injustice. So if feel you are being treated unfairly or see others in that position, you'll be out there arguing the case to right the wrongs. Once we survive the early days of August, we will be asked to arrive at decisions by being objective, balanced and listening to both sides of an argument before making judgements. Mars can be rather brash and tactless but it mellows in Libra to become co-operative and more refined. So there'll be a greater understanding of the need for compromise to keep relationships running along smoothly. Resolutions and solutions should be arrived at through diplomacy and communication. Be assertive but not aggressive. (www.astrology.com) Celestial forecast provided by Joanna Bristow-Watkins of www.harmonyhealing.co.uk Sunday 1st August marks the Ancient Egyptian New year, traditionally marked the start of the Nile flood, started by the tears of Aset (Isis) over the death of Asar (Osirus). The exact correlation of the Egyptian New year to the modern calendar is disputed, but I favour the linking with the heliacal rising of Sirius (dawn visibility of Sirius) as this star, known to the Egyptians as Sopdet (pronounced Soppday) was closely associated with Aset. It is also the continuation of the Pagan Lunasa celebrations. Sunday 8th August is The Lion's Gate. August 8th (8:8 in numerology) has always been experienced as the Lions Gate doorway opening up a time portal to ancient Egyptian encodings situated between the Sphinx and the Great Pyramid of Giza. It is said to be an energy doorway, which activates through the Solar Lion into the etheric and the Hall of Records (Akasha) and this year (8-8) it is associated with the marriage of matter and antimatter, where polarities meet and merge. Encrypted at sacred sites all over the world, but headquartered at Giza Egypt, these long-established data programmes, communicate with our own inner crystalline codes held in our DNA. By tuning in and connecting with these codings we may be able to access a portal ancient truths and wisdoms resulting in an accelerated spiritual awakening. Tuesday 10th August is the Pagan Lunasa Dark Moon at 04.08 (Monday night). The New Moon Abundance ritual should be carried out within 24 hours after the New Moon.
Thursday 12th – Saturday 14th August. Peak dates for the Perseids Meteor Shower (see entry under 23rd July). The radiant point for this shower will be in the constellation Perseus. Look to the northeast after midnight. Monday 16th August is the Japanese and Chinese Celebration Tanabata Star Festival of the Weaving Girl and Herd Boy. In the story, two lovers – Tir (the weaving girl) and Teshar (the herd boy) who neglected their work so they could constantly be together, where punished by being permanently separated. On this date, Magpies formed an annual bridge cross the river of stars so that they could be together, representing how nature conspires to help those who are genuinely passionate for each other. The celebration takes place on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month, so it is sometimes wrongly celebrated on the 7th July, whereas in fact the date changes according to the annual lunar calendar. Wednesday 18th August is the Egyptian Feast of Wagy. Taking place seventeen days after the Egyptian celebrations of New Year's Day, there was the more sombre feast of Wagy, when families paid respect to their ancestors. They came to the tombs of the deceased, with offerings, performing rituals, specifically "fumigations" - producing fumes - smoke. The ceremonies were often followed by a funerary meal. Thursday 19th August is the Festival of Tehuti (Thoth) marking the occasion on which Tehuti (Thoth) ordered the healing of the eye of Heru (Horus). Saturday 21st August is the Roman Festival of Consualia, to honour Consus, the god of counsel, and the one who protects the harvest, which was in storage at the time of the festival. Mars, as a protector of the harvest, was also honoured on this day, as were the Lares, the household Gods that individual families held sacred. During the celebration horses, mules, and assess were exempted from all labour, and were led through the streets adorned with garlands and flowers. Chariot races were held this day in the Circus Maximus, which included an odd race in which chariots were pulled by mules.
Tuesday 24th August is the Pagan Full Moon at 18.05. Between this date and the next New Moon is considered as a good time energetically for detoxing the body. Click here for Angela McGerr's Full Moon Meditation with Gabriel This is also the Chinese Ghost Festival, this is the Buddhist Festival of All Souls or the Festival of Hungry Ghosts, when offerings are made until the next New Moon to spirits who have not yet found rest.
Monday 31st August is the Summer Bank Holiday in the UK.
