Welcome to 2010 and New Beginnings. This is going to be a mementos year and there are going to be lots of changes for us all and the more we work with it the easier it will be. By changing our awareness and our consciousness as to who we are as divine beings in human bodies, and connecting at a deeper level with our life’s purpose, we will not only be able to manifest our own lives, in accordance with our soul energy, we will also be able to change our whole world. We are being given the opportunity to co-create the future of our individual lives and as such our world. To this end there will be a number of changes taking place in how I work and what I do, so watch this space. New Year Resolutions If you are planning on making New Year’s resolutions and want to make sure you actually achieve them this time and don’t give up. There is never a better time to start than TODAY whenever that happens to be. But what usually goes wrong is we try and do too much at once and give up. Deciding what those resolutions are and planning how and when will be the best time to implement them is a good way forward. (It stands to reason, if you do what you have always done then you will get the same result as always). Start with one then add each of the others. Give yourself achievable goals and you will feel good about yourself and stop beating yourself up for not being good enough. Achieving one at a time will be better than giving them all up. So number one for me this month is getting more exercise, because this will assist the losing weight at the same time as making me feel better. (Three for the price of one) The diet can start when I have finished all the chocolates, wine, cheese, etc.

Spiritual Holiday
I am so happy to announce this year’s Sacred Journey has now been finalized. We are off to Bhutan “the land of the thunder dragon” and home of the Tigers nest Monastery. Our entry point to Bhutan is through Nepal and we will be visiting some of the major Buddhist and Hindu sites whilst there. Please feel free to forward this to anyone you think may be interested. Unfortunately because of the restricted number of tourists allowed into Bhutan we will have to book the Katmandu – Paro flights by the end of February therefore if you are interested in going please let me know ASAP. Mercury is retrograde again and I am already having trouble with computers and websites and all forms of communication.
Mercury -- mythology’s messenger god and the ruler of transportation and communication -- turned retrograde in Capricorn on December 26 at 2:38 UT (6:38 am PST; 9:38 am EST). Mercury normally turns retrograde three times a year, but this year it unusually turns tail four times. This final Mercury retrograde of 2009 lasts until end January, when it halts and begins its return to direct motion through the zodiac. The effects of each period differ, according to the sign in which it happens. When Mercury is retrograde, everyone's thinking is more introspective. With Mercury retrograde in Capricorn, people with this sign prominent in their charts will be especially prone to such introspection. Capricorn is a cardinal sign, so the other cardinal signs -- such as Aries, Cancer and Libra -- will also receive a touch of the lash! Mercury retro in Capricorn, a Saturn-ruled sign, can become critical, penetrating and somewhat suspicious, as well as thoughtful and diplomatic. Learning to relax and developing a sense of humor will be important for our emotional and physical health! The pragmatic, material world will take precedence during this time, so hold on to your valuables and assets, and make sure you have something saved for a rainy day. All areas of communication will be affected in this retrograde period, including matters related to teaching, healing, professional advice and workplace relationships -- especially those between superiors and subordinates. Since this retrograde period begins the day after Christmas, beware of travel snafus, mail and delivery mishaps, and missed appointments of all kinds. Back up your computers and be careful of documents going astray.

Friday 1st January a time for New Beginnings!
Monday 11th January is Plough Monday in England! Traditionally Plough Monday (the day after Epiphany when The Zoroastrian Magi visited the infant Jesus) is the day for setting aside the remnants and excesses of Christmas and "putting one's hand to the plough"; in other words, starting work on a project of some sort.
Thursday 14th January is the Hindu Celebration of Makara Samkranti, which is the Winter Festival of the Reborn sun. It is traditional to wear yellow clothes and eat yellow food, bathing in sacred waters and offering prayers.
Friday 15th January is Pagan Dark Moon @ 07.11. The New Moon Abundance ritual should be carried out within 24 hours after the New Moon. Furthermore, because there is a partial eclipse visible Haridwar (India), Hindu Kumbha Mela bathing festival will take place which occurs around every 12 years (depending on the position of Jupiter), celebrating sacred bathing in the Ganges or mountain locations every New or Full Moon until 14th April.
Wednesday 20th January is the Hindu Festival of Vasanta Panchami, held in honour of Sarasvati, the Goddess of learning, wisdom and arts. Sarasvati wears white, rides a white swan and is depicted playing a stringed instrument called a Vina.
Thursday 21st January is St Agnes Eve; a night for meaningful and deep dreams. In Christian tradition, St Agnes appeared to her parents in a dream the night after she was martyred.
Monday 25th January
is Burns Night in Scotland. Burns Night is a revered date in the Scottish calendar and celebrates, on the anniversary of his birthday, the life and works of their national Bard, Robert Burns.
Born around 250 years ago; his best known poem was ‘Auld Lang Syne’. The evening centres on the entrance of the haggis (a type of sausage made from a sheep's stomach) on a large platter to the sound of ceremonial bagpipes. When the haggis is on the table, the host reads the "Address to a Haggis". This is an ode that Robert Burns wrote to the Scottish delicacy! At the end of the reading, the haggis is ceremonially sliced into two pieces and the meal begins. The same date is St Dwynwen’s Day in Wales. St Dwynwen is the Welsh equivalent of St Valentine, being their patron saint of love.
Saturday 30th January is Pagan Imbolc Full Moon @ 06.18. Between this date and the next New Moon is considered as a good time energetically for detoxing the body. In Jewish tradition is Tu B’Shevat, and old winter festival also known as the New Year of the Tress, a day on which celebrants eat dried fruit and nuts and tress may be planted as a gift for the earth. Sunday 31st January and Monday 1st February is the Pagan Imbolc Ceremony is one of the four Great Celtic Festivals, and which is a Wiccan and Druid Festival of Fertility and Growing Light. It is sacred to the Goddess Brigit or Bridie, the power of the new moon, the Spring of the year, the flowing sea, corn dollies and the Great Moon Mother - Patroness of Poetry Making and Healing. Look at what you want to achieve this year and ask Brigit's help in making it happen.
