The secret to Abundance is Gratitude so when you catch yourself worrying or feeling down, focus on what you have got. Or when you are stressed over work, hating the thought of going to the office. When you are worrying about how you are going to cope, just take a deep breathe, imagine breathing out all your troubles, all your fears, all your problems, go into your heart and be grateful for your life. Focus on a flower, bird song, sunshine, a happy memory, anything to bring a smile to your face. Well done, you have consciously changed your thinking and your feelings. Consciously start making a mental list of everything you have got, everything good in your life. Your health, your sight, your legs, arms, and hands, the roof over your head, your cloths, your friends, family, loved ones, the positive memories of the joy you have experienced in your life so far. Everything we in the western world take for granted. Then think of all those who have never experienced anything but poverty, starvation, contaminated water, ill health and be grateful for what you have and if possible take action to help those who don’t. It is connecting to the compassion within our hearts that changes our reality and our world.
New Years Resolutions It’s that time again. How did you fair with your resolutions last year? I am conscious we often give up on them either after a few weeks or months, sometime even days. Most often our resolutions are goal orientated, such as “loosing weight, getting a new job, moving house, finding a relationship” etc. but what I am aware of is that it is the same every year. Always TRYING to achieve something even when I know from experience that TRYING doesn’t work and only leaves me feeling I need to TRY HARDER.
So how can we make sure we stick to our new year’s resolutions. Obviously ‘focused effort’ is one way but another is to join with others and seek support. Tell your friends and family, get together with a group so you can support and encourage each other.
We can of course also set resolutions which are more in line with our soul’s journey. Such as this year I shall choose to be happy, to help others, to love my neighbour, to do unto others,to see the flowers amongst the weeds. So this year instead of TRYING go with the flow. See what life has to offer rather than TRYING TO make it fit in with your schemes. Again easy to say but not so easy to do. PEACE & JOY TO THE WORLD
This time of year can get very hectic and tempers can be short because we never stop worrying. For a moment step out of yourself, pretend you are an angel or a wise being, looking down on you, on all of us. What would they be thinking? How would they react do you think? They may well be laughing at the way we take everything so seriously. After all how important are our worries in the greater scheme of things.
When we remember, those who are less fortunate, those who have no roof over their head this winter, who are in poor health or those grieving for lost loved ones. We take so much for granted, so take the time to be grateful for what you have and to tell your loved ones how much you care about them, what they bring and add to your life. The Joy this will bring them will bring a smile to your face and theirs. When you take a look at the bigger picture you can laugh at yourself. Bring the Joy into your life during this season of good will by being grateful for what you have and sharing your love and light.
